This course will run from  8.30am to Noon - for 7 weeks every Saturday.

Your Children will learn Boat Handling Skills, Confidence,  Safety and Sailing Theory

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Why do I need an AUSTRALIAN SAILING NUMBER?

Once you begin registration for this course for your child you will be prompted to sign up for an Australian Sailing Number or use your child's Current One. Follow the links provided to sign up for an Australian Sailing Number or Find your Existing Number FOR YOUR CHILD. This is Free and provides Australian Sailing personal Insurance at no cost. Keep a note of the AS number and use it to sign up for the course and future courses.  This will be your child's unique Australian Sailing Number that they will use for any courses they sign up for and when joining any Yacht Club in Australia.

Course Overview
This course aims to provide children aged 7-12 with a fun, safe and affordable way to get into sailing. 

Course Prerequisites

• Water confident
• 7-12 years-old

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing through games on and off the water.

Course Outcome

By the end of the Tackers 1 course, the participants will be able to:

• Steer with tiller extension under towing paddling power
• Tie a figure 8 knot, round twice and two half hitches
• Tack (push turn)
• Gybe (pull turn)
• Reach around a figure of 8 course using both tacking and gybing
• Sail with tiller extension
• Sail upwind and downwind by following the safety boat

You will gain your Tackers 1 completion certificate.
