COVID ANNOUNCEMENT

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL GBYC MEMBERS

RE: COVID 19 Proof of Vaccination

From Monday 31 January 2022, WA government mandated proof of COVID-19 vaccination requirements will apply state-wide and be expanded to include all hospitality and food and licensed venues, including restaurants, dine-in fast food, cafes, bars, pubs, clubs, taverns. https://www.wa.gov.au/government/announcements/proof-of-covid-19-vaccination-expand-state-wide-monday-31-january

Community sports are excluded from the proof of vaccination requirement, therefore there is currently no requirement for proof of vaccination for members to sail in GBYC 2022 races.

The GBYC is a licensed Club and will be included under the venues where proof of vaccination will be a requirement.

In short, everyone can sail, but only the fully vaccinated will be permitted to enter the GBYC. Only vaccinated persons will be able to attend registration, briefings, presentations and functions.

Yacht owners and/or Skippers need to ensure all crew members/family /friends planning to participate in GBYC 2022 races / events or functions are aware of these new vaccination requirements.

The GBYC 2022 Committee apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however we must comply with government regulations.

Situated in Busselton in the south west of Western Australia, the Geographe Bay Yacht Club overlooks the vast expanse of sheltered water from which the club takes it's name.

It commands a superlative vantage point on the long stretch of sand for which Geographe Bay is renowned, and is only a short distance from the town centre. From the modern Clubhouse, you can take in the whole bay from Capel to Cape Naturaliste, including the famous 1.8 km Busselton Jetty.

Geographe Bay is an ideal body of water for sailing and has been the focal point of sailing in the South West for over 50 years, hosting large numbers of boats in regular club events and various State and National Titles.

Geographe Bay Yacht Club boasts a recently featured article which appears on the Australian Sailing website.
